Though I can tell there is prose shift between the first and the later ones. But if you've read the Harry Dresden books sequentially, you can see that there too. Probably you can with any author, if you can sort out which was written first. Probably a problem if you can't because that signals that the writer has stopped improving. Is just easier when it's a long series where changing world and story tones don't obscure the storytelling skills.

Actually, it was the first chapter or two in the second book that took a couple tries to get through to where the story hooked me. The confusion about the legalities on various levels that propels her to run bothered me. But I hate legal entrapment situations so not sure if it was the writing or me being angry at the world.

Excited for the rest of the books. I did get to tell a fellow former LTUE gopher that your books were available. =) She hadn't heard yet.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10726553819347747605noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5543888125445678948.post-13741750649700261612014-01-06T09:08:26.921-08:002014-01-06T09:08:26.921-08:00Thanks for the encouragement. I've realized I'm great at characters and plot, but not good at the writing.Jaleta Clegghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442641418941475763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5543888125445678948.post-72509453750148306892014-01-06T08:06:58.308-08:002014-01-06T08:06:58.308-08:00I love the new cover! Writing gets better the more you write--you do have that one right. The nice thing about being indie is you can update your book as often as you like. :) Best wishes and stay strong! Vince read it first - and while he did pick up on some of the writing flaws, he encouraged me to read it, because of her, and because the next books got much better on the writing. I'm looking forward to the revised version!Deenahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06066588680317641316noreply@blogger.com
